Waltham Forest Dance Showcase

Image
Waltham Forest Dance Showcase: In the heart of Waltham Forest, where creativity intertwines with rhythm, and passion takes flight on the wings of dance, there exists a momentous event that transcends boundaries and unites souls: The Waltham Forest Dance Showcase. On this promising Tuesday, 26th March, our hearts quickened with excitement as we, the St Patrick’s Dance Troupe, were due to converge with dancers from schools across the borough at Frederick Bremer Secondary School. Each step we took echoed with anticipation, a prelude to the harmony we were about to create on stage. Our day started with our final rehearsal, which we performed in front of the headteacher and our deputy headteacher. Both were impressed with the dance. Mr Protsiv loved the energy and said he couldn't stop smiling; the energy had supercharged him with happiness. After our final rehearsal, we were wished luck; Miss Allen left us with "Make us proud." We set off confident and happy, excited ab

Netball Team at London Youth Games

Image
Thursday, 21 st March, our Year 5/6 Netball Team embarked on a memorable journey at the prestigious London Youth Games to represent London Borough of Waltham Forest. With 26 boroughs from across London in attendance, the competition was, to say the least, fierce. Our team, consisting of Otaoghene, Phoebe, Jesururu, Samara, Jacob, Esther, Brayan, and Valentina, played with remarkable skill and determination. Every shot, pass, defensive move, and goal was a testament to their teamwork, showcasing their communication and unity on the court.   Although we do not yet know where we placed in the competition, one thing is certain - St Patrick’s team played exceptionally well. Representing Waltham Forest with pride, our St Patrick's team exhibited great sportsmanship throughout the tournament. While victory may not have been within our grasp this time, the experience gained was invaluable. Regardless of the outcome, we can hold our heads high knowing that we gave it our all . We set

Happy St Patrick's Day

Image
Dear All, What a wonderful day! Thank you for preparing the children to put on a very enjoyable and lively St Patrick’s Concert this morning- the hall was buzzing with excitement! In contrast, we had a wonderful opportunity for reflection during our St Patrick’s Mass this afternoon where children read well, sang beautifully and on the whole showed great reverence during Mass (especially for a Friday afternoon!). Thank you Jocelyn for preparing the children so well and everyone for playing your part to make Mass a sacred experience. Hope you all have a wonderful St Patrick’s weekend however you are celebrating!

World Book Day

BOOK WEEK: Last week we celebrated Book Week in style with a range of activities designed to promote books and get children excited about reading.   On Monday, there was a Giant Book Swap in the hall, where pupils exchanged books they are no longer reading for a book from another child. Many children took part. Thank you to parents and children who brought in books to swap!  Our homework competition winners wrote fantastic book reviews or designed wonderful book character posters to  recommend books to others. The winners received a £5 Book Voucher to spend at the school Book Fair.   On Thursday, we celebrated World Book Day by coming to school dressed in pyjamas to ‘Get cosy with a book!’ We had a special assembly where the winners of the homework competition were presented with their prizes and we heard from some famous authors. To see more please visit Families - World Book Day . The majority of our older children went to read a book a buddy in a younger class. It was a joy

Year 2 - Great Fire of London

Image
On Thursday 14th March, the Year 2 children had a whole day Great Fire of London workshop. During the morning, the  children used practical activities and drama to find out what it was like living through the Great Fire. They explored many of the jobs of the people in that time, including: a barber surgeon, apothecary, leather worker, chandler, perfumer, baker, metal worker, seamstress and weaver. They also visited a Stuart schoolhouse to make ink and learn how to write with quill pens!  In the afternoon, the children began an archaeological investigation. They used ‘dig’ boxes to search the remains of the fire for artefacts that would help them to find out more about a specific job or family that may have been living in London in 1666.   In order for this workshop and its many activities to run so smoothly, we needed a lot of extra hands and support. So, we want to thank the many parent volunteers and staff for travelling back in time with us and training up all the keen  apprentic

Safe Cycling Training

Image
Our Year 5 children have had an exciting time taking part in the National Bikeability programme. Over the course of a week, 23 of our children set off on a journey to discover and develop important life skills through cycling. Bikeability cycle training goes beyond learning to ride; it is an experience that empowers our children with independence, social skills, and an enhanced sense of well-being. The programme commenced in the playground, where our children 'polished' their cycling skills in a controlled environment before confidently taking to the roads. Guided by vigilant instructors, our young cyclists navigated local roads, mastering all challenges and hazards. We are delighted to share that children successfully completed the Level 2 Bikeability course. Now, we hope they can use their bikes more often - as a mode of sustainable transport, for fun, and to stay fit and healthy. In turn, this will help contribute to a greener planet and all the benefits that cycling b

St Patrick's Netball Team

In a outstanding display of skill, resilience, and sportsmanship, St Patrick's Year 5/6 Netball Team emerged victorious in the Borough Final on Wednesday 6th March. The goal was clear: to defend their title as Borough Champions and secure a coveted spot in the London Youth Games. Our team motto was 'in it to win it.'" Little did the children know their journey to triumph would be laced with unexpected challenges, making their achievement all the more remarkable. The path to victory began on February 8th, where a highly competitive, netball competition unfolded in two sessions. St Patrick's made it to the finals, earning their spot as the champions of the morning session. The original plan, as communicated by the School Games Organiser, was for the two winning teams to play in the Borough final. However, an unforeseen twist awaited us! To our surprise, the School Games Organiser invited five teams from the morning session to the finals, citing the reason was to ‘f

The Sion Christian Community

Image
On Thursday 29th February, we had a whole school day retreat facilitated by The Sion Christian Community. The focus of the day was the gift of praying to God the Father and how it can bring us closer to Him and also help us in times of need.  All of the children from Nursery up to Year 6 took part in this joyous, spiritual day. At the end of the day we all came back together in the hall to perform a song together. It was so much fun!
