Exciting News Update on our Year 5/6 Netball Teams!  On Thursday 8th February, both our netball teams attended the Waltham Forest Borough Netball Competition held at the Score Centre in Leyton. The Amazing A Team - Otaoghene, Esther, Jacob, Samara , and Jesururu . The Brilliant B Team - Brayan, Valentina, Dagem, Alan, Amelia and Phoebe set out to defend our coveted Waltham Forest Netball Champion Title. The rules of the game, require all players to rotate positions which is challenging for most but not our talented players. Our players embraced the challenge of playing various positions on the court, using their well practised attacking and defending skills. They were not only well-prepared but also displayed enthusiasm and skill at every position, excelling at the competition. Internet Safety Day

Image
This week we had Internet Safety Day at the school - a landmark event on the online safety calendar – that built on the E-Safety workshops and learning that the children all had a couple of weeks ago.   In Y6 they looked at technology of the future – including music, phones, AI and how it might impact their lives.   In Y4 and Y5 the children watched a LIVE lesson that aimed to demystify technology of the future and provide insights into the world of AI technology for our older children. The main aim of the lesson was to help the children navigate the digital landscape safely and to be aware of all the ways in which technology can be used to help us – but also trick us. Year 4 then designed some amazing posters to share their knowledge with others.   In Y3 they revised the SMART rules and focused on the importance of always telling a trusted adult if they see or hear something that they do not like.     In Y2 they have been reading and discussing the Digi-Duck series o

Ash Wednesday:

Image
Ash Wednesday on March 14 th marks the beginning of the Season of Lent. It is a season of penance, reflection, and fasting that prepares us for Christ’s Resurrection on Easter Sunday, through which we attain redemption. Ash Wednesday comes from the ancient Jewish tradition of penance and fasting. The practice includes the wearing of ashes on the head. The ashes symbolise the dust from which God made us. As the priest applies the ashes to a person's forehead, he speaks the words: "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return. It is important to remember that Ash Wednesday is a day of penitential prayer and fasting.

Badminton Festival

Image
Badminton Festival: In an exciting event that blended fun and fitness, 10 eager athletes from 4B embarked on a thrilling badminton inspired journey at the Waltham Forest School Sports Network's 'Racket Pack' festival. This fantastic event, hosted at the Peter May Sports Centre on Monday 29th January, served as a well deserved reward for the exemplary efforts and dedication displayed by the children in their Physical Education lessons throughout the term. 'Racket Pack' proved to be an engaging setting focused on learning and refining  badminton skills, promoting teamwork, and providing a fun introduction to the sport. The afternoon was filled with enthusiastic learning, and our students collaborated with children from neighbouring schools across the borough. This experience left our young athletes with improved skills and lasting memories of a well spent afternoon in the dynamic world of badminton.

Tri-Golf: In a delightful update, we are thrilled to share that our Year 4 children's debut in Tri-Golf was nothing short of remarkable. Out of the 26 schools and 250 children participating, our team's outstanding performance secured a well-deserved third place. On Monday, they were proudly presented with bronze medals, a testament to their remarkable effort and dedication. This achievement highlights the determination, focus, precision, and teamwork of our children who not only welcome challenges but emerge victorious. Their ongoing sports journey remains a continual source of pride for St. Patrick's, reflecting the school's values and ethos. A massive congratulations to our young golfers!
