Girl's Football Tournament

Image
Our Journey:  We are thrilled to share the exhilarating journey of our Year 5 and 6 girls’ football team in our first tournament of the academic year. This exciting competition, hosted by Leyton Orient Trust in association with Premier League Kicks, brought together schools from Waltham Forest and neighbouring boroughs.  Our young athletes embarked on this journey as a united team, eager to showcase their skills and spirit. To reach the semi-finals, they faced a nail-biting match that culminated in a heart-pounding penalty shootout. The penalty shootout- best-of-three, had everyone on edge! Cool-Headed Heroes:  The first penalty was taken and scored by Otaoghene, and was matched by our resilient opponents. The pressure then fell upon Sophie.S, who displayed 'nerves of steel' to secure the second goal. As tensions mounted, it was our goalkeeper, the ultra-calm and 'cool-as-a-cucumber' Phoebe who rose to the occasion, saving the second attempt from our opponents. Glor

Attendance

Image
We would like to say a big thank you to the parents for making sure their children attend the school regularly.  Over the past few weeks, the overall pupil attendance has been above 96%. Our average attendance this year is 96.2%. We are pleased to share with you that St Patrick’s are in the top 29% of schools nationally by attendance rates (according to our Arbor data). Your efforts ensure that your child will have the best chance to achieve their academic potential and have real opportunity to succeed in further education and the world of work.

Prayer for Peace

Image
Sadly, the great pain, sorrow and tragedy have escalated in the Middle East. The ensuing violence brings death and creates long-lasting destruction and hatred. It seems as if during this tragic time we are helpless to stop it yet we do not want to remain inactive. We call our school community to tum our hearts to God and join us in Pope John Paul II's Prayer for Peace . Make all men and women witnesses of truth, justice, and brotherly love. Banish from their hearts whatever might endanger peace. Enlighten our rulers that they may guarantee and defend the great gift of peace. May all peoples on the earth become as brothers and sisters.

Remembrance Day

Image
During the month of November we remember to pray for our deceased brothers and sisters in a special way. All Souls' Day is marked on 2nd November, directly after All Saints' Day, and is an opportunity for us to remember those who have gone before us. Your child will give you a specially designed form for you to write down (in block letters please ) anyone you would like us to pray for during our special Remembrance Liturgy on Friday 10th November 2023. Please return these to your child’s class teacher by Friday 3 rd November, any slips returned after this date will not be included. Thank you.

Fospa Coffee Morning

Image
FOSPA Coffee Morning - Thank you to all parents who attended this morning, it was lovely to see so many of you.  This was a fantastic opportunity to meet other parents and a brilliant start for FOSPA. FOSPA is the Parents association for St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School. Every parent automatically becomes a member when their child joins our fantastic school. FOSPA is a very active group and regularly hold social and fundraising events to which everyone is welcome.  All the money raised by FOSPA is put straight back into our school, so every child directly benefits. Thank you to all FOSPA members Joanna, Jemima, Patricia, Lisa and Veana who helped with the coffee morning.   Special thanks to the school staff who helped us run this event smoothly.  May the Lord fill our parents with blessings and enrich their souls with his holy grace!

Harvest Mass and Christian Kitchen

Image
On Wednesday 11 th October, we had a whole school Harvest Mass celebrated by  Fr Kevin. It was so wonderful to have a collective worship in school with all children and staff in attendance. The children sang  beautifully and read all of the readings with confidence, it was a joy to behold. Following the Mass, Christian Kitchen came to collect all of our donated food to share with vulnerable people throughout Walthamstow.   They were  overwhelmed by the generosity of our St Patrick’s School community and wanted to pass on a huge ‘Thank You’ to everyone involved, saying that your kindness will make a real difference to so many people in our local area.

Image
During the Month of October the children will learn about Inspirational and Holy Men and Women. We will be looking at the lives of those the Church regards as Saints, as Blessed, as Venerable and as Servants of God.   A wide geographical spread as possible with people who lived their lives in Ghana, Sudan, Madagascar, Uganda, Congo, Nigeria, South Africa, Peru, Haiti, Cuba,  The United States, Spain, Italy and Papua New Guinea. We hope that it is informative and inspirational.
