Safe Cycling Training

Our Year 5 children have had an exciting time taking part in the National Bikeability programme. Over the course of a week, 23 of our children set off on a journey to discover and develop important life skills through cycling.

Bikeability cycle training goes beyond learning to ride; it is an experience that empowers our children with independence, social skills, and an enhanced sense of well-being. The programme commenced in the playground, where our children 'polished' their cycling skills in a controlled environment before confidently taking to the roads.

Guided by vigilant instructors, our young cyclists navigated local roads, mastering all challenges and hazards. We are delighted to share that children successfully completed the Level 2 Bikeability course. Now, we hope they can use their bikes more often - as a mode of sustainable transport, for fun, and to stay fit and healthy. In turn, this will help contribute to a greener planet and all the benefits that cycling brings, like a healthier mind and body.

At St Patrick's, our ultimate goal is to ensure the happiness, safety, and health of all our children. While we celebrate their cycling proficiency, let's remember that roads can be unpredictable and risky. Whenever possible, encourage the use of cycle paths, and always ensure your child wears a protective helmet. Remind your child about the importance of safety each and every time they go out on their bikes so we can collectively ensure our young cyclists remain safe.

Thank you for your continued support in encouraging our children to have healthy and active lifestyles and for making our school community a safe and happy place.
