Leyton Orient - Show Racism a Red Card

On a dreary, wet Wednesday, our Year 6 children embarked on a journey that would defy the gloomiest of days. Undeterred by the downpours, their spirits soared as they departed school on their adventure. November the 8th, 2023 marked a day of enlightenment and inspiration as our children delved into the SHOW RACISM THE RED CARD programme at Leyton Orient Football Club.

The agenda unfolded with an immersive workshop unravelling the intricacies of racism, a compelling presentation on discrimination, and an exciting tour of the Leyton Orient Football Club. The day culminated in a surprise appearance by Leyton Orient footballers in a riveting Q and A panel, leaving our children enlightened and impassioned.

To top off a great day, we later learned that St Patrick's, received praise from the organisers, Leyton Orient Trust, who deemed the Year 6 children to be "AMAZING!"

SHOW RACISM THE RED CARD harnesses the power of football in the battle against discrimination, using the sports influence to drive educational workshops and  presentations to raise awareness and foster a culture of inclusivity and unity.

St Patrick's take great pride in being part of this impactful initiative and we express our heartfelt thanks to Ms Le Blond who organised this trip for our children and the adults who took the children. Our special thanks go to the panellist, the players from @LOFCWomen and @leytonorientfc, #PLPrimaryStars and the sponsors of the event #SRtRC
