Year 3/4 Panathlon

YEAR 3/4 PANATHLON

On Thursday 25th January, nine of our year 3 and 4 children embarked on an unforgettable Waltham Forest School Sports Network, Panathlon trip at the Peter May Leisure Centre.

The children brimmed with excitement as they left the school at lunchtime. Their anticipation reached new heights as they arrived at the event, where the sheer scale of the venue, the multitude of activities available, and the presence of children from schools across the borough accentuated their enthusiasm.

Leading the group was none other than Genevieve from 3A, who proved to be a shining beacon of inspiration. Following in the footsteps of her older sister Amelia, Genevieve exhibited exceptional leadership skills throughout the day. Mr Hamlet and Mrs Fernando were full of praise, describing the team as ‘amazing’, with particular emphasis on Genevieve's outstanding leadership.

Genevieve, filled the afternoon with encouragement. Her kind words motivated everyone to do their best, and it was heart-warming to see the team supporting each other.

The children enjoyed all of the activities and modified sports. They had such a great time they could not pinpoint a favourite activity. This event however, was not just about trying out different adapted sports; it was a celebration of working together, being inclusive, and achieving success as a team.

As the Panathlon adventure came to an end and the points from all the activities were tallied, our team received an additional surprise….. a COMMENDABLE 3rd place honoured with bronze medals! This achievement is a testament to the exceptional teamwork, sportsmanship and the outstanding leadership skills exhibited by some of our young stars and our amazing PE teacher Ms Le Blond.
