Today, on Friday 15th December, the children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and 2 celebrated Christingle in school. This advent celebration is named after the Christingles that are lit during the ceremony. Christingles are oranges wrapped in red tape, decorated with dried fruit and sweets (on four cocktail sticks), with a candle on the top. Each of these things relate to a special symbol: · The orange represents the world · The red ribbon (or tape) symbolises the love and blood of Christ · The sweets and fruit represent all of God’s gifts of creation · The sticks represent the four seasons or the four compass points · The lit candle represents Jesus’ light in the world, bringing hope to those living in darkness The Christingles were made by the children in class, then lit at the service to spread a magical glow around everyone. The children listened to stories of Jesus’ birth and sang songs to celebrate this wonderful season. The singing w...

Good luck and farewell Mrs Palmer after 25 years of excellent service! Mrs Palmer started at St Patrick’s in January 1999 as a Teaching Assistant. She joined the Registered Teaching Programme (RTP) and her first teaching role was in Reception. Mrs Palmer has had many significant roles at St Patrick’s such as Religious Education Lead, Literacy Lead and Music Coordinator. Currently she teaches music two days a week in school which she absolutely loves to do; this is where she comes alive with her joy of music and singing. Mrs Palmer’s collaboration with Waltham Forest Music Service has been amazing and has enabled our children to flourish in their musical abilities, from performing in borough-wide competitions and shows to becoming confident players of both the recorder and ukulele. One of her specialities is to rewrite the words of popular songs to celebrate teachers getting married, having babies, leaving, moving to new schools or celebrating milestones at St Patric...

Year 1 Nativity: What a wonderful community we have! It was one of the highlights of our careers to witness the community come together for this wonderful occasion, celebrating the birth of Jesus. Firstly, Parents and Carers, thank you so much for the incredible turn out! It was heartening to see how many of you could make it to see your children perform. We were delighted to see you. To those who could not make it, we have it recorded! Thank you to those of you who logged in to Google Classroom to learn the lines and the songs with your children. We particularly loved those of you who joined in with the singing (and the dance moves) in the audience! Children, you have made us really proud. Your acting, singing and dancing were wonderful. Your behaviour was amazing and it was an absolute pleasure to see all of your hard work pay off. Also, if you were poorly or away for the main Nativity to parents, please don't be sad. We have photos of ...

Boccia and Kurling Festival: The school week began with a burst of excitement as a team of eight year 5 children participated in an inclusive ' Boccia and Kurling Festival organised by WFSSN. In the sports hall of the Feel Good Centre, the children immersed themselves in a carousel of ‘aiming’ activities, boccia, bowling, skittles and the winter Olympic sport of Kurling. Laughter echoed through the hall as these young athletes embraced the challenges before them. In our group, we added in our own unique element of competition and fuelled by the spirit of teamwork. Each child gave their best, turning every activity into a dynamic expression of determination, good-natured banter, and shared victories. In the words of the children, time indeed flies when you’re having fun and the event swiftly came to an end.
